Charlene DiCalogero

"Charlene is one of the most captivating singer-songwriters on the local scene. She has an angelic voice, a great sense of humor and writes truly wonderful songs."
— Andy Kimbel, Andy Kimbel Blues Express

New York City native Charlene DiCalogero began performing in the first grade, when a four-girl singing group she put together sang for a school assembly. The group broke up immediately afterwards due to “artistic differences” (they couldn't agree on the words to the songs), but Charlene has been going strong ever since.

A dynamic performer with a knack for witty song introductions, Charlene has performed in clubs and colleges throughout the Northeast and Midwest, including the SUN Music Company in New York, the highly regarded Minstrel Coffeehouse in Morristown, New Jersey (opening for Steve Tilston), and the Folk Factory in Philadelphia, where she won the Peopleís Choice Award in 1999.

A resident of Boston for the last three years, Charlene has been writing and performing her own material for “long enough to actually get good at it” and counts Joni Mitchell, Elvis Costello, Brazilian samba and Cole Porter among her influences.

Of Armor and Old Lies: Odyssey Songs Vol. 1, which Charlene describes as “an album three-thousand years in the making,” is her debut CD.

"I've really been enjoying this CD (it's currently sitting in my CD player, taking a rest after 2 or 3 playings). Wonderful stuff! The harmonies are brilliant. I'm already wanting Volume 2."
